WMATA has developed and implemented an EMS for the following WMATA facilities: |
| WMATA was chosen by the Federal Transit Administration (FTA), along with ten other transit agencies across the U.S., to participate in a 2-year (2003-2005) EMS training program. WMATA Safety and Environmental Management chose Greenbelt Rail Yard to be the fenceline for the pilot program. |
| What is an Environmental
Management System (EMS)? An EMS is a set of management processes and procedures that enables WMATA to analyze, manage and reduce the environmental impact of its activities and increase it’s operating efficiency.
